“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted….A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance…” Ecclesiastes 3. 1-2, 4
This is a story about life, death, seasons and choices.
Faith Will Set You Free
There once was a little soul named Faith who decided to pick Kenya as her mother.
Just after her conception, Faith’s mother-to-be began having a rough time in her relationship with her husband.
Little Faith, conceived in love, had come on a mission to awaken her mom to the nature of loving from the inside out.
Still in the womb, Faith became a guiding light for her mother-to-be as she navigated her pregnancy.
No matter how difficult the environment was with her husband, Kenya felt the love of this little soul.
What Kenya didn’t know is that Faith was on loan from God.
The little one had come to help her mother get strong and learn to love herself.
Little Faith also had her own soul’s lesson, which was to let go when that job was done.
Faith completed her assignment before she was born into the world. The seeds for her mama’s transformation had been planted.
Valley of the Shadow
It was in Faith’s death that her purpose for living was fulfilled.
Faith had come to give her life that her mother might find her owns soul’s purpose and direction.
Kenya’s stillborn child left her mother wide open to the miracle of life, death and transformation.
Kenya understood she couldn’t have her baby back. The thought of losing “her only love” consumed her.
Eventually the same loving she felt from her daughter’s presence, no matter how short lived, helped Kenya through the valley of the shadow to the other side and into the light of a new beginning.
Part of that new beginning was to divorce her husband.
Light at the End of the Tunnel
During the difficult times that followed, Kenya often wrote in her journal.
She courageously examined her own lack of self-esteem, feelings of unworthiness, separation and isolation.
On one dark night she called out for help, writing, “Something must give. I deserve and desire better. My self-esteem is so low.
I am asking you, God, to elevate me and make my goals attainable.
I know that no one but you have brought me this far.”
Kenya’s prayers for self-esteem were answered in time. Faith gave birth through her death, to a non-profit called FIG or Faith in Girls.
Faith Lives On
Today, little Faith lives on in every young woman who gets a second chance to grow into the experience of a strong self-esteem.
Today Kenya has lots of girls, all named Faith.
Life’s deepest tragedies leave our earth scorched.
New life will occur. Our job is to look for the new growth and nurture it.
Have faith in your future, open up to the possibilities that faith in yourself is key to a new life.
